Hello and welcome! I love researching, and writing about, classic films. Even more, I love sharing my findings and insights with people who have the same passion for these cinematic gems. These “closer look” items are all opportunities to talk about aspects of the film that have essentially lost their context over seven plus decades. It’s thrilling for me to be able to breathe new life into iconic films, and in the process allow fans to enjoy them on a whole new level.
I have a J.D. degree and my early years as an attorney found me honing my research and writing skills at a global law firm. I eventually struck out as an executive in the tech industry, spending a decade plus providing legal and business guidance to Motorola, Google and Lenovo, in their smartphone business ventures.
Apart from writing, I love being outdoors and active through sports and travel. My travels last year took me once again to Seneca Falls, New York, to immerse in the amazing annual It’s a Wonderful Life film festival, as well as to Morocco and the city of Casablanca. That’s right, how could anyone write a book on the film Casablanca and not actually visit the city it’s set in?!
I’m a life-long Chicago Cubs fan, with fan credentials that include selling peanuts at Wrigley Field and making it onto the Sports Illustrated cover featuring the Cubs’ 2016 World Series win . . . well, at least my arm is visible!
I grew up in the Chicago area, and currently live in the city, close enough to Wrigley Field to hear the roar of the crowd.
